DC Legacy Project Completes Telling the Full History Grant
On March 31, 2022, DC Legacy Project became an inaugural grantee of the National Trust for Historic Preservation’s Telling the Full History Preservation Fund. This grant supported a series of public events to amplify the history and legacy of Barry Farm/Hillsdale and engage community members in envisioning the future of the historic landmark. A design book to guide future planning was created by project partner TBD Studio. These activities were also supported by a Vision Grant from Humanities DC. Both the National Trust and Humanities DC had previously helped support the production of a documentary film, Barry Farm: Community, Land and Justice in Washington DC, which was co-produced and primarily underwritten by the Bertelsmann Foundation. The film premiered in June 2022, has since been screened around 30 times across the city and beyond, and has been featured in three film festivals.
