National Park Service Reconstruction Era National Historic Network

The National Park Service added the DC Legacy Project: Barry Farm-Hillsdale to its Reconstruction Era National Historic Network. The DC Legacy Project submitted a successful application for inclusion in this network which includes sites and programs that are affiliated with the Reconstruction Era, but not necessarily managed by the National Park Service. The network facilitates and reviews Reconstruction Era related research and collaboration with affiliated sites and programs through agreements and partnerships. This network is nationwide and works to provide opportunities for visitors to connect to the stories of Reconstruction.

In addition to the DC Legacy Project, the Washington, DC network includes the Frederick Douglass National Historic Site, Carter G. Woodson National Historic Site, Ford’s Theatre National Historic Site, and the Civil War Defenses of Washington.
